Completed Project : Bathroom, Guest bedroom, Child’s bedroom, Landings & Stairwell
Bathroom Design brief : Design a beautiful sanctuary bathroom that will mostly be used by my clients and their guests. A calm retreat away from the rest of the house and a plastic toy free zone.
Storage is a key part of the design brief : Design concealed storage to be built into the vanity unit with double doors as well as open storage; a recessed shelf within the shower wall, a shelf under the mirror and a slim profile wall cabinet on wallpapered left hand wall as you enter the bathroom.
The design will centre on their wish for a light filled bathroom and draw on their taste for blues and greens, creating a connection with the colour palette throughout their home.
Interior Design Consultation : This project is a perfect example to illustrate how crucial the design consultation is to the success and delivery of a project. I travelled to London to meet my clients for a two hour in person consultation, devoted to getting to know them and their project. The rest of the design process and took place remotely.
This gave us enough time to relax into it and discuss their plans for a loft conversion which would include a bathroom, guest bedroom and child’s bedroom. Working from the architect’s drawings we discussed each loft room in detail which I have since designed for them.
The Interior Design Consultation is such a great opportunity to ask a lot of questions and discuss ideas, even if the rooms have yet to be built. It’s during these conversations together that I understand how my clients live and want to live in their home. So much is achieved in a relatively short time, in two hours I was able to learn enough about this family to come away and design three key rooms in their home, all of which they loved and signed off.
Guest Bedroom Design brief :
A calm, light, contemporary bedroom which may, in the short term, be for an au pair and in the long term a welcoming guest room for family and friends.
Child’s Bedroom Design Brief :
A calming bedroom for a 4 year old and a future play space for her and her sister. A calming, light, inspiring room with the opportunity for adventure and fun in a woodland themed den space.
Include a variety of storage for clothes, toys, books and also part of the eaves space for family storage.
Wallpaper for the woodland themed den space under the eaves complete with soft lighting, torches, peep holes and a rabbit or two.
